Eliane Ronzón
Sound is a way of understanding the world. It tell us about what we do, who we are, and how we exist.
Recording soundscapes, I aim to comprehend the culture and grasp what is not conveyed in words but expressed through sound.
Sound embodies time and repetition. There is no pretense—only the exploration of our essence.
I aim to provoke active listening in others, both outwardly and inwardly.
About me
I am Eliane Ronzón (1988) a transdisciplinary artist based in CDMX-Xalapa, Mexico. My artistic journey bridges sound, visual art, and insights from neuroscientific research. I delve into themes such as culture, perception, self-consciousness, nature, and ecological interactions. Utilizing technology, I create experiences that are embodied, sensitive, and reflective.
Over the years, I have curated listening sessions, participated in collective exhibitions in Guanajuato (2015-2018), and engaged in the art residency Ecos Sonoros (2022). My work has been showcased at Fonoteca Nacional and contributed to performances at the Biopotential Lab during the El Aleph Festival, UNAM (2024).
My academic background includes a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology and Neuroethology from Universidad Veracruzana (UV). I am also certified as an Art Psychotherapist by the Mexican Institute of Art Psychotherapy (IMPA). Integrating my understanding of neurosciences from studies at UNAM and research at the Neuropsychology Laboratory, I enrich my artistic practice. This interdisciplinary approach allows me to explore the intersections between neural processes, human perception, and environmental stimuli, deepening the connections between art and cognition.
As an educator, I have shared my expertise as a professor at the Faculty of Visual Arts at the Allende Institute (SMA, Gto.), where I offer courses and workshops on creative processes, artistic expression, and the integration of scientific principles into art-making. My work has gained international recognition through publications and awards, including scholarships from Conacyt for further studies abroad, and creation awards from CCP, CENART, and Fonoteca Nacional.
